LRL pick up silverware at the NFRC’s Roofing Awards 2021!

Having showcased our very own ‘Wythenshawe Forum’ project to the rest of the UK and put it up for a public vote against 55 other submissions, we have to say we felt the odds were stacked against us for this one.

We were pleasantly surprised then to hear our name called out by the ‘Voice of God’ (Neil Bentley) as only the fourth award of the ceremony. We had barely finished our last mouthful of mango delice when, to enthusiastic applause, we found ourselves walking towards the stage.

As the music blared, we stood for photos and accepted our ‘Industry Choice’ award from the former Top Gear presenter, Tiff Needell, and soaked up the cheerful atmosphere. A momentous and yes, glamourous moment for all involved.

Festivities of the awards aside, and safely back in Manchester, we have been able to reflect on the project as a whole and understand just why it was voted for as industry favourite project.

When we submitted our entry back in the summer, we were made to remember just how challenging the project was, from ensuring major transports links were not disrupted to providing solutions to unforeseen challenges throughout, a tough refurbishment we hadn’t really thought about since completing.

The heart of our company values safety, quality and value was our motivation to make sure that the community centre was able to continue providing vital services to the local population during Covid and ultimately keep them safe. We accomplished this by strict adherence to protocols and developing and delivering Safe2Torch training to ensure all building users were protected.

We are proud of the dedication and effort of all involved in this superb project and happy to be recognised for this by our peers.
